OpTic Gaming dropped from Dreamhack Malmo and ELEAGUE Premier

ELEAGUE season 2 champions OpTic Gaming have been disqualified from both ELEAGUE Premier and DreamHack Masters Malmo as a result of their recent roster changes, with Cloud9 taking their place in the latter event.

Both changes came after OpTic Gaming had signed on European trio Adam “friberg” Friberg, Aleksi “allu” Jalli and Emil “Magisk” Reif, with a fifth player expected to be revealed soon. Only Spaniard Oscar “mixwell” Canellas and Canadian Keith “NAF” Markovic from their previous team are the remaining members of the former OpTic roster.

DreamHack explained in an official statement that OpTic are no longer eligible to compete in the tournament because the organization could no longer field the core of the lineup that was invited to the tournament.

It also meant that Cloud9, who recently recruited the aforementioned “core” in former OpTic players in Tarik “tarik” Celik and Will “RUSH” Wierzba will join DreamHack in the first event since their roster change as the only North American team of the event. – Cara Daftar Sbobet

As for OpTic’s place in ELEAGUE, Turner eSports stated that the changes are “inconsistent with ELEAGUE’s rules”, which state that, “if more than two players on a team’s roster change, said team will be removed from the tournament immediately.”

A third team coming out of the Americas Open Qualifier, which will be held from August 26-27, will be the replacement for the ELEAGUE Season 2 Champions.
